'The Walking Dead' Renewed: AMC Adds New Season To Zombie Series and 'Talking Dead' Talk Show

Just in time for the annual Halloween celebration, both "Walking Dead" and "Talking Dead" got renewed for new seasons.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, AMC announced that the hit long-running zombie survival series has been renewed for another 16-episode season alongside its follow-up talk show.

In a statement released by the cable network, AMC president Charlie Collier confessed that the renewal came "without a doubt." He jokingly said that they were lucky enough to have someone who brought a Magic 8-ball to prove it.

Collier expressed his gratitude towards the cast and crew behind the top-rated TV series. He also assured that there will be "more walking and talking" in the future.

"All joking aside, we are so proud to share these shows with fans who have been so passionate, communicative and engaged. We are grateful for and continually impressed by the talent, effort and excellence on continuous display by Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, Chris Hardwick and the many people with whom we partner to make these unique shows possible," Collier said.

It was reported that the series remained as the top cable series for three years, dominating the18-49 demographic. The recent episode, which featured a mysterious cliffhanger about a major character, has "delivered 18.2 million viewers, 12 million adults 18-49 and 11.5 million adults 25-54 in live+3 ratings."

Moreover, the renewal gave new milestones to "The Walking Dead." "Mad Men" ended with a total of 92 episodes while with the Season 7, "The Walking Dead" will have 99 episodes.

Season 7 will also mark the return of executive producer/writer Scott M. Gimple as the series showrunner. He previously got the same job after he replaced Season 4 head, Glen Mazzara. He will join Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, Greg Nicotero and Tom Luse as executive producers.
