Enrique Iglesias, latin crooner and heartthrob lover boy, has sold his home in Bay Point, Miami, for about $6.7 million after owning it for almost two long decades, according to several news reports.
The 'Escape' hit-maker purchased the residence back in 1996 for just $640,000. He has now sold it for ten times the price. However, according to Curbed, government records show that sometime in 2009, the residence was transferred to the Northern Trust Bank for $0 and transferred back to him almost immediately, a mystery that remains a secret even now.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the residence is a 6400 square feet custom-built two-story home comprising of five bedrooms and six bathrooms. The property is inclusive of 100 feet of water frontage and provides scenic views of the skyline of Miami.
In 2002, Iglesias filmed his home for MTV's Diary series. Check out the video where he talks about his home, his dogs and why he loves Miami below:
So if Iglesias was so in love with Miami, why sell? The sale of the property has fueled rumors of his split with tennis-star girlfriend, Anna Kournikova. The couple is breaking up after living together for 12 years.
Reason? Iglesias is just not ready to take the wedding plunge yet. Apparently, Anna is tired of waiting for him to decide.
"Anna is getting tired of waiting for him to decide if he wants to marry her or not. They've been together for so long, she feels like it's never going to happen. She is ready to move on," a source tells Wonderwall.com.
However, the source added:
"This issue has come up before and they have managed to smooth things over and get back together. Time will tell."
No official comments on the break up were received. One of the members of the couple's inner circles warned not to jump to conclusions. But why does Enrique not want to marry?
Iglesias told Parade in a candid interview:
"I've never really thought marriage would make a difference. Maybe it's because I come from divorced parents, but I don't think you love someone more because of a piece of paper. And nowadays, it's not taboo to have kids and not be married. What makes a difference is that you're a good parent, period."
