Leah Remini speaks about Scientology and the reason why she left on her 20/20 interview. Remini was part of the church for more than three decades.
According to PEOPLE, Katie Holmes provided a statement to ABC regarding Remini's 20/20 interview. Katie said in her statement, "I regret having upset Leah in the past, and wish her only the best in the future."
Katie and Tom Cruise divorced in 2012 after being married for almost six years. Tom is one of the most famous faces of the Church of Scientology. It has been reported that Holmes never spoke about Scientology nor Tom's involvement in the church and it will still remain that way.
Holmes, declined being interviewed for the program as her publicist said, "In response to an email sent from the producers or fact-checkers from 20/20 asking a plethora of questions, we supplied no answers and instead gave only a one-sentence statement in response."
The publicist continued, "Katie is not making an appearance on the special, nor is she discussing Scientology, or her former marriage."
"For any outlet to suggest otherwise is misleading; I would think Leah and the book stand on their own, and don't need to trade off Katie Holmes for people to tune in."
PEOPLE revealed that in her interview, Remini talked about Cruise and said that, "Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself."
Remini also mentioned about being filed a "Knowledge Report" after she commented on Tom kissing Katie all night long. She was then written up and reported to the church.
Meanwhile, Yahoo! Celebrity reported that in a statement, the Church of Scientology to ET Online, "It comes as no surprise that someone as self-absorbed as Leah Remini with an insatiable craving for attention would exploit her former faith as a publicity stunt by rewriting her history with it, including omitting that she was participating in a program to remain a Scientologist by her own choice, as she was on the verge of being expelled for her ethical lapses."
