International Chinese actress Li Bingbing is the next female superhero who will appear in Stan Lee's "Realm" movie.
The Hollywood Reporter exclusively announced that "Realm" will be produced under the China-based Fundamental Films and Stan Lee Global Entertainment.
In a recently released statement, Lee acknowledged the casting of the "Resident Evil" actress will be an "empowering" step for them. He said that she will be the first ever Chinese-descent heroine with "Realm."
"It has been such a fun experience bringing to life an international woman character, and the ability to do so has been different from anything we've ever done! I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it," Lee said.
According to the outlet, Bingbing will also act a producer alongside Gill Champion of Stan Lee Global Entertainment with Gregory Ouanhon and executive producer Gary Glushon of Fundamental Films.
"Stan Lee's imagination has brought the world some of its most iconic pop-culture stories and characters. It gives us incredible pleasure and excitement to present his latest creation," Fundamental Films CEO Mark Gao.
Alex Litvak, who worked on both "Predators" and "The Three Muskateers," will write the script for "Realm." Though the details are still under wraps, the "Realm" movie is based on Lee's original concept.
Lee worked as the former chairman of Marvel Comics before founded the POW! Entertainment in 2001. Last year, the said company established the Stan Lee Global Entertainment alongside an investor from Hong Kong. The ex-Marvel honcho is known for co-creating famous characters in the comic book industry such as "Spider-Man," "Hulk," "Fantastic Four," "Iron Man," "Thor" and "X-Men."
Bingbing recently took the roles as Ada Wong in "Resident Evil: Retribution," Su Yueming in "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and the female lead in "Zhong Kui: Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal."
