‘Grimm’ Season 5 Premiere Episode Recap: ‘The Grimm Identity’

"Grimm" season five aired its pilot episode called "The Grimm Identity" which finds Nick at the brink of a nervous breakdown with several tragedies happening to him all at the same time.

The premiere episode for the fifth season of "Grimm" starts where the show ended the previous season. Nick is holding the lifeless body of Juliette with Trubel standing over him looking so desperate to find the right words to console Nick. According to a recap by Entertainment Weekly, before they can exchange words, Nick suddenly blacks out as someone just drugged him. He tries to look at his assailant's face but he drifts too fast into sleep and when he wakes up, Trubel and Juliette are both gone. And to make matters even worse, the head of Nick's mother is also nowhere to be found.

Before Nick can go ballistic, he gets a call from Hank. He informs Hank about what happened to Juliette. Hank tells him to stay put and wait for him. Nick then phones Monroe and Rosalee to check if they have seen Trubel. They tell him they have not seen her since yesterday and Nick also tells them about what happened to Juliette. Hank arrives and Nick tells him he is convinced that Chavez has something to do with Trubel's disappearance including his mother's head.

Nick confronts Chavez and his team holds her until she tells them where Trubel is. Chavez leads them to her contacts that are killed by Wesens. Chavez gets injured and dies. Before she dies, she managed to give Nick a figurine and mumbles about a war coming.

According to TV Line, the war Chavez said before she died refers to a faction of Wesens who are leading a global uprising. They are tired of hiding and they want break the established practice of Wesens staying out of trouble to avoid being exterminated.
