Roman Abramovich, the Russian billionaire who owns 'Chelsea Football Club (CFC)' and his girlfriend, Dasha Zhukova are reportedly under contract to buy a plush co-op on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue Gold Coast. They have offered to purchase the mansion for about $75 million, according to several news reports.
If the sale goes through, this will be the highest and the most expensive deal sealed for a co-op in NYC, ever!
According to the Real Estalker, the residence was put up on the open market with a $72 million price tag in May 2012. However, it was taken down in January 2013 and hasn't reappeared on the public listing yet.
Looks like, the transaction is a private one. Listing records of the mansion specify two past sales and one active sale.
The residence is a combination of three apartments comprising of 22 rooms altogether. The house has eight plush bedrooms and 10 full and one half bathroom. A ballroom, a gym, a library, a reception rotunda are some of its exclusive features.
The listing of the building at StreetEasy reads:
Built in 1886, this French Renaissance-style building located between 63rd and 64th Street was once described by architectural historian John Taurananc as "about as close to Versailles as residential New York has to offer." Originally built for coal baron Joseph Berwind, this coop building has just nine apartments on its six floors and has a full time doorman. Pet friendly and pied a terres allowed.

This purchase just adds to Abramovich's luxury assets. He has a sprawling mansion in London, a luxury residence in St. Bart and several other properties all around the world, reports The Daily Mail. He already owns the world's largest yacht, 'Eclipse' that he purchased for $250 million.
Everything about Abramovich has to be luxurious. Even baby deliveries!
According to Forbes, Dasha Zhukova gave birth to a girl in April in New York. Apparently, the couple were awaiting the baby's birth in their yacht that was docked in the Hudson River since February.
"Abramovich was spending $500,000 a week. At eight weeks on that rate, that's still $4 million. Add to that a few million for getting to New York on the boat and the total, including that initial boat purchase price, is at several hundred million," Forbes estimated.
This was their second child together. Their son Aaron was also born in Los Angeles and hence is a citizen of the United States. Abramovich has five more children from his previous marriage.
