"Pokken Tournament" is an arcade fighting game based on Pokémon franchise. The game was developed by Bandai Namco for Nintendo Wii U and arcade platforms. It combines the elements of Bandai Namco's Tekken and the characters from the Pokemon lore.
A darker, more menacing "Mewtwo" comes to the new fighting game. "Mewtwo" was originally created by Japanese Video Game Designer Ken Sugimori and the fictional character first appeared in the video games "Pokémon Red and Blue" and other succeeding games in the "Pokemon" series published by Nintendo.
This time, the psychic pokemon is going to be meaner and tougher-looking in his new form. Called as the Dark Mewtwo, he comes with a glowing yellow tail. Check him out in the gameplay below.
The video of the gameplay was embedded from TrackerTDGaming YouTube account. And it shows that Dark Mewtwo was beaten by Gengar, the round purple ghost-type "Pokémon."
According to Kotaku, there are rumors that Dark Mewtwo is the combined version or Pokémon X & Y and Pokémon Z. Many fans are also saying that the new boss looks like Mega Mewtwo X with some extra details. There are also rumors suggesting that the mega Mewtwo form is exclusive only to Pokken Tournament therefore this character will not be patched into other titles.
According to to Polygon, Dark Mewtwo is the new boss for the "Pokken Tournament." But for now the patch that adds Dark Mewtwo is available only for Japanese arcades. There are no details yet as to whether the update was only to add a new character or to revamp the games main form.
"Pokken Tournament" was released for the arcade platforms in Japan on July 16, 2016. And for the fans of the "Pokémon" games, the good news is that the fighting game will be released for Wii U worldwide in spring 2016.
