Tom Cruise's Scientology influence cannot be questioned.
The actor has been focusing his time and energy on filming his upcoming action flick, "Jack Reacher," in which he would be playing a role of a homicide investigator, despite the intrigues circulating about Scientology.
While Cruise was busy filming, Leah Remini, a former member of Scientology, had an all-exclusive interview on 20/20 on Friday, Oct. 30, as reported by US Magazine. According to the news portal, and as part of the interview, Remini stated, "being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself." The report added that it bothered Remini why Cruise treated Jennifer Lopez and then partner Marc Anthony oddly at the ceremony of Cruise and Holmes' wedding, despite being his close friends, way back in 2006. In addition, the head of the church, David Miscavige, also attended the ceremony without his wife, Shelly.
During the interview, Remini divulged being reprimanded for her actions, such as questioning where MIscavige's wife was, upgrading her hotel room and changing seats at the reception. Holmes has allegedly penned a letter filing a complaint against Remini causing the reprimand. In relation to this, Katie Holmes did not clarify if she indeed wrote the letter but has issued a statement on Friday, "regretting upsetting Leah in the past."
The public was given a rather wide preview of the tell-all interview with Remini as to what they can expect from her memoir, "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology."
As part of the 20/20 interview, as reported by USA Today, Remini admitted being part of the Sea organization and that her mother was the one who introduced her and her sister to the church. She also narrated that she was treated differently before and after she became famous. She was even summoned by Cruise to teach him and his then girlfriend Katie Holmes salsa dancing. The "King of Queens" star admitted that the final straw was when church officials came to her house and verbally abused her, resulting to heated arguments and throwing of expletives. It was the reason she broke ties with the church last summer.
Cruise, on the other hand, is yet to issue a statement pertaining to the 20/20 interview.
