Apple Designs 3D Model Of New ‘Spaceship’ Campus

Apple Inc, the Cupertino-based tech giant has come up with a 3D model of its futuristic headquarters to present before the Cupertino City Council for a final nod, Tuesday.

Apple announced plans to build a new "spaceship" campus in Cupertino, California, more than two years ago. The project was introduced by the company's co-founder, chairman & CEO Steve Jobs, just months before his death in 2011. This spaceship will sit on the ground while 14,000 employees, err humans, continue to woo us with their new techs.

With the courtesy of Mercury News, images of the 3D model of the amazing new Apple HQ were leaked online. The campus goes before the Cupertino City Council for a final vote on Tuesday, according to the report.

The new project will not take the place of the current HQ location but will be built on a 2.8 million square feet area previously occupied by HP. The building will have four storeys and will host the 14,000 workers, which is five times more than the current HQ's capacity. The project will be led by the UK-based architecture firm, Foster + Partners and the estimated cost involved would be around $5 billion, CNET reported earlier this month.

The images of the first public model show the new facility with a dark-colored roof top with solar panels, an auditorium, spacious parking, jogging tracks and a 45,000 square foot fitness center.
