Reese Witherspoon’s Ojai Ranch Receives Pricechopper; Now Asking $5.9 million

Reese Witherspoon of the 'Legally Blonde' fame has reportedly pricechopped her Ojai Ranch yet again after failing to sell it in the past few attempts. Price of the estate has been reduced to $5.9 million from the previous $7.9 million price tag, according to several news sources.

Located at Del Norte Road, Ojai, California, the 7-acre ranch was first listed in October 2012 for an asking price of $10 million. Witherspoon relisted the home in November again with a lowered asking price of $8.9 million.

She last slashed the price to $7.9 million in March 2013 before giving it the latest pricechopper, reports Trulia.

The Ojai estate has quite a celebrity history. The property was owned by actor Harold Ramis and designer Kathy Ireland before Witherspoon picked it up in 2008. Apparently, it also served as an 'escape' for Robert Pattinson when he first found out that girlfriend Kirsten Stewart was cheating on him, reports People Magazine.

The home was also featured in 'House Beautiful' and 'Elle Décor' as well.

According to the listing records at Redfin, the estate has a main house, three guest cottages, barns, horse stables and huge pastures of sprawling greenery. The main home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Other features include a formal living room, dining room, library/study, a loft and a family room. The kitchen is a large bright modern space with a breakfast area. The home also has a laundry room.

Outside, there is a pool, an open patio, large organic gardens and a carriage houset. A detached covered parking garage accommodates guests' cars.

The estate also served as the wedding venue for Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth, when they tied the knot in 2012.

Reese said in an interview with 'Elle Décor' that she loved the property and that it brought back memories of her youth.

"It reminds me of growing up in Tennessee, where we spent all day outside. I wanted my children to have that experience, to get muddy and hang out with the animals. It is meditative and restorative. As soon as I drive through the gate, I relax. The air is fresh, the phone isn't ringing, you can't access e-mail. Time slows down. Within an hour I'm lying on that couch taking a big fat nap. It's like having a little bit of Tennessee in California," she said in the interview.

But if she loves her home so much, why is she so desperate to sell it?

"When you buy a beautiful piece of art, you don't really own it. You're just the caretaker," she added in the interview.

Witherspoon also recently purchased a Brentwood Circle home for $3 million

Witherspoon will feature on the cover of the November issue of Elle Fashion magazine, reports The New York Daily News.
