Traditional watchmakers are catching up in the smartwatch bandwagon and one of the latest to join is the American lifestyle brand Fossil. The fashion watchmaker has announced a flagship smartwatch product called Q Founder that is yet to be released this month.
Here's the comparison between the Fossil Q Founder and Apple Watch based on what we know so far:
According to CNET, Q Founder has a circular display and traditional watch lugs. Initial images suggest that Q Founder has an odd black bar at the bottom which would likely feature a light sensor to adjust display brightness automatically. It also has a full touchscreen display. Both have a range of choices for the bands.
Apple Watch features stainless steel or space black stainless steel case. It has a Sapphire crystal and retina display with Force Touch. It has a ceramic back and a digital crown. Apple Watch also features ambient light sensor, heart rate sensor, gyroscope and accelerometer.
Apple Watch runs on watchOS2, while Fossil Q Founder has an Intel processor and runs Android Wear. Both have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
The battery life of Apple Watch can last up to 18 hours. There is no information yet on Q Founder's battery life, but other products in the Q line can last up to seven days.
As for the prices, Fossil Q Founder starts at $275, while Apple Watch starts from $549 to $1,099.
Apple has proven that a luxury smartwatch would sell. In fact, TAG Heuer, which is also set to release its own smartwatch in November, considers Apple as a competitor when it comes to luxury watches. Apple's most expensive smartwatch is called Apple Watch Edition, ranging from $10,000 to $17,000. TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch is priced at $1,800.
