Smashing Pumpkins frontman, Billy Corgan has reportedly purchased a $1.25 million property just near his mansion in Highland Park, Illinois, according to several news reports.
Corgan's new residence sits right adjacent to his mansion which sits on six prime acres of land. It is his primary residence which he purchased back in 2003 for $6.8 million. The new home is a 4646 square feet home on a 1.03 acre lot. Corgan purchased the new residence under a limited liability Corporation he owns, reports The Chicago Tribune.
Apparently, the home was never listed publicly. Corgan purchased the home from the Kulp Family. William Kulp, the seller, said to the Tribune that Corgan had expressed interest in the property since the time he purchased his mansion in 2003. Kulp had lived in the house from the time he was in second grade. Although he felt bad on letting the property go, he said it was 'time' after his mother died.
Since the home wasn't publicly listed not much information is accessible. Photos are also unavailable.
More recently, he sold his Gold Coast, Chicago, condo for about $2.85 million. The rocker bought the condo back in 2002 for $ 5.5 million. He first listed it in September 2008 asking for $4.35 million. However, Corgan had it relisted, slashing the price every time. Corgan also offered it up for rent in 2010 for a monthly charge of $10,000.
Corgan shot to fame with his rock band, " Smashing Pumpkins," which he and guitarist James Iha formed in 1987. The band fired member Jimmy Chamberlin due to his drug problems but he joined the band once again in 1999, before they broke in 2000. In 2005, Corgan floated the idea of a and the "Smashing pumpkins" reunited in 2006. They toured the world until 2008.
Corgan also formed other bands like "Zwan," "Spirits in The sky", "Starchildren" and "The Marked."
