Ace Photographer Steven Meisel’s Beverly Hills Home Listed for $12.5 Million

Fashion photographer Steven Meisel's Beverly-Hills lair has reportedly hit the public listing market for $12.5 million.

The residence had grabbed attention first in April when rumors of its debut on the market raged in the brokerbabble. In May, the Wall Street Journal reported that the home was about to be listed for $13 million and now, after a significant gap of four months, the wait is over. The home has finally been listed publicly for the aforementioned price.

According to the Real Estalker, Meisel purchased the home sometime in the fall of 2001 for around $2.7 million. The home was originally built by famous architect George MacLean in 1963 and was later renovated and expanded under the watch of a L.A. based construction firm, Marmol Radizner.

The residence is a 6350 square feet home sitting on a prime private lot. Comprising of three bedrooms and six bathrooms, the home is laden with ultra-modern luxury amenities. The home was featured in the October 2012 issue of the Architectural Digest as well.

Excerpts from the magazine:

"I was looking at houses in Los Angeles, and I fell in love with Trousdale Estates," the photographer says, referring to the neighborhood that inspired his Versace images. "Back then it wasn't popular at all. I remember asking my friend Herb Ritts about it and he told me, 'It's for old 1960s movie stars. Nobody lives there."

"The architects added 2,300 square feet to the existing 4,000-square-foot dwelling, extending the structure to the east and west so that it zigzags along the top of the ridge in the same rhythm as the existing house. As you move through it and make various turns, you reengage with different parts of the garden," Radziner explains. "We installed large water features on both sides of the entry and remade the pool following the same contours of the original. Then we brought in dense tropical plantings that play off the new marble, onyx, teak, and walnut. Everything feels very lush and generous."

More recently, Meisel declared that not a single penny from the sale of the Beverly Hills property would go to his ex-boyfriend, Benjamin Forest who has been living in the house even after they broke up.

Meisel filed a lawsuit against Forest claiming "his former lover of 21 years gorged on drugs, had sexual liaisons with a male escort and paid for a Beverly Hills party with his American Express card," reports New York Daily News.

Meisel is famous for his capturing photo shoots. He had shot many pictures for singer Madonna's book 'Sex' and keeps doing frequent picture projects for coveted magazines such as Vogue.
