On Tuesday, U.S.-based wireless carrier AT&T announced that it will start accepting pre-orders of the Samsung Galaxy Gear S2 on Nov. 6, ahead of the device's scheduled launch date. Other smartwatches that will be sold by the company are Android Wear-based LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, a report from iDigital Times said.
"AT&T has also detailed that the Galaxy Gear S2 as well as LG's Watch Urbane 2nd-gen will be compatible with NumberSync feature, which will be available starting in early 2016. The feature allows Galaxy Gear S2 or LG Watch Urbane users to use the same phone number on several mobile devices such as smartphones and smartwatches. With NumberSync enabled AT&T users would be able to use their smartwatch for calls and texts without needing a smartphone," the report said.
It was said that pre-orders will be available online and at the company's retail stores starting on Nov. 6 for all the smartwatches. "AT&T says prices for the Gear S2 and Watch Urbane 2nd Edition will both be $0 down and $15 per month for 20 months with an AT&T Installment Plan on Smartwatches or $199.99 with a two-year agreement. The Watch Urbane 2nd Edition will officially go on sale on November 13 while the Gear S2 will do the same on November 20," Android Central said.
"The Samsung Galaxy Gear S2 features a 1.2-inch circular display with a rotating bezel, which serves as the smartwatches navigation tool. It also includes a 1.0GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage. Its battery is a 250mAh cell, which features wireless charging and can between two and three days, according to Samsung," iDigital Times said, describing the smartwatch's specs and features.
Other features expected in the smartwatch are sensors which include "accelerometer, a gyroscope, a heart-rate monitor, an ambient-light sensor, a barometer, and a microphone. The Galaxy Gear S2 runs Samsung's Tizen operating system and supports the Samsung Pay mobile payment system," the report noted.
