"The Young and The Restless" star Burgess Jenkins has confirmed he is quitting the show. Jenkins played the role of Billy Abbott since June 2014.
Rumors have been making rounds that Burgess is leaving "The Young and The Restless" but there was no confirmation nor denial about it until now. Jenkins issued an official statement, Soap Opera Digest reported, saying, "It's been a terrific time, but after a lot of thought I have made the difficult decision to leave The Young and the Restless. Commuting back and forth from the East Coast, where my home and family are based, has been challenging. I've had a great ride in Genoa City and I will miss our talented cast and crew tremendously. I would like to thank all of the amazing fans for their support, Jill Farren Phelps [executive producer] and Chuck Pratt [head writer/executive producer] for their excellent leadership, and everyone at Sony and CBS for this opportunity."
According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, it is unclear on how TPTB will handle Jenkins' exit from the role of Billy Abbott. For those who follow the show knows that Billy Miller was the first one who played the role of Billy but then he left in 2014 and was replaced by David Tom. Burgess replaced Tom after four months.
Reportedly, Jenkins had a hard time trying to fit in the role of Billy given that Miller was able to portray it very well. Still, many fans felt sad when they found out that Jenkins was leaving the show.
It has been reported that the management of "The Young and The Restless" have not yet issued any comment regarding Jenkins leaving the show.
Meanwhile, Jason Thompson has officially confirmed that he is exiting "General Hospital," strengthening the rumors that he is joining Y&R as Billy Abbott, replacing Burgess.
