Benedict Cumberbatch is the life of the hit BBC show "Sherlock" as it has been said that without him the show will end.
According to Metro, Steven Moffat, the co-creator of the detective series "Sherlock" will go off air the moment its big star Benedict Cumberbatch leaves the set. The show is considered as BBC One's biggest export and will be entering the filming of its fourth season after the creators air the holiday special. Variety quotes what Moffat said, "Once Benedict Cumberbatch gives up Sherlock what we are going to do? We are going to stop, that's what we are going to do." And he has a point as it would be hard to imagine anybody else to fill in his "Sherlock" shoes.
In another news, Steven Moffat has compared "Sherlock" with his other show "Doctor Who." According to Huffpost Entertainment, the latter attributes its longevity to its policy that allows different actors to take the lead role. It looks like he could not imagine applying the same policy to "Sherlock." Cumberbatch portrayal of "Sherlock" is extraordinary and it gives the character the life and vibrance that it needs.
For those who are impatient for season four, the one-episode holiday special that is set on a Victorian Era will be aired this coming Jan. 1, 2016, titled "The Abominable Bride." Check out the trailer from BBC below.
For the benefit of "Sherlock" fans, Cumberbatch is committed that he will continue with the hit show as he reportedly doesn't see an end date. Back in January 2014, according to The Hollywood Reporter, while the "Sherlock" actor was attending a panel discussion, he said, "I'm fine with it. I'm going to keep going with it. It's a schedule-providing thing...I love it. I find it very invigorating."
There is no definite date for the release of "Sherlock" Season 4 yet but filming is said to begin in Spring of 2016.
