Celebrity Real Estate: Starchitect Vishaan Chakrabarti Buys $5.78M Condo

Vishaan Chakrabarti, a famous architect who recently launched his own firm, Partnership for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU), bought a $5.78 million unit FXFowle’s dramatic Flatiron tower, 35XV.

Chakrabarti’s and his wife, Maria Alataris' new property has a dimension that is smaller than their last pad at 2,324 square feet. It contains three spacious bedrooms wherein each one features an en suite bath and is outfitted with a Lutron home automation system, including touch-pads, remote controlled shades, lighting systems and temperature control, 6sqft. reported.

Aside from that, the building where the pad is housed also has a climate controlled walk-in wine cellar that is intended for the residents in the area. It also has a large dining room, entertainment lounge, and children's playroom.

Another thing that made the area very impressive and attractive is its health and fitness center that overlooks a 75-foot wide common outdoor terrace, which is a perfect avenue to de-stress. Its master suite has large closets and spa-like master bathroom that includes a steam shower, radian heat, marble floors, soaking tub and a custom made marble slab countertop holding a double sink, NY Post noted.

Said apartment is smart wired featuring walnut-stained white oak floor finishes. It also has everyone's dream kitchen that fits for a chef. The property was listed by Douglas Elliman’s Frances Katzen with Alchemy broker Jill Preschel.

Chakrabarti, who is turning 50-years-old, recently made a $4.995 million sale on his Flatiron loft earlier this month. Because of that, it is noted that this is indeed a blessed year for the architect and urban planner and that he will end 2015 with a big bang.

He has also currently resigned from his position at the SHoP Architects to start his own firm. "I turn 50 soon and I felt like I was at this fork in the road," Chakrabarti said about starting PAU, according to FastCo Design. "I want to engage with the city of the future and strategic urbanism."
