Thor’s ‘Asgardian’ Castle Abacussed: Own it for ‘Just’ $212 Million

In the latest Marvel offering, 'Thor: The Dark World', Thor (Chris Hemsworth) takes Jane (Natalie Portman) to Asgard with him, where he intends on protecting her. Jane is visibly awed by the majestic view of Asgard and Thor's castle.

Just like Jane, the folks at Movoto Realty were enticed with the idea of how Thor's Asgardian abode would be like if it were in Midgard (Earth) and put together some vital stats of the make-believe castle.

To start off with, Movoto Realty found that Sweden would be the perfect location for an Asgard spin-off on earth. Why Sweden? Three reasons:

1. Since Thor is derived from Norse mythology, his hometown had to be somewhere near Scandinavia. Denmark and Norway were also initially considered.

2. Sweden is the largest Apple producer in Northern Europe. (Asgardian Equivalent: The people of Asgard maintain their youth and strength by eating golden apples from Idunn.)

3. Sweden's sacred tree at Uppsala. (Asgardian Equivalent: Yggdrasil, the famous ash tree that connects Asgard to all the other worlds through its three roots.)

After extensive research (read watching the movie numerous times), they arrived at the size and price per square feet of the residence and put together an official MLS listing of the home.

According to the fictional listing, the residence is a 259,410 square feet home, comprising of 440 bedrooms and 220 bathrooms! The 'magical castle' has an open floorplan, with gold tiles and stone flooring. Other exclusive features include the Hall of Asgard, Odin's trophy room and several banquet rooms. The home has parking space for chariots and there is room for goats too!

The listing describes the home as:

This spacious, highly luxurious castle is the perfect fit for any god - Greek or Norse. Located in the heart of Asgard, this superb castle is close to major shopping centers and is only a hammer's throw from excellent public transportation, the Bifrost Bridge.

Note that the Midgard equivalent for the 'Bifrost Bridge (the rainbow bridge that connected Asgard to Earth)' is the 'Stockholm International Airport'.

And you could own all that magical awesomeness for just $212 million (approx) only!

On a much realistic note, 'Thor: The Dark World' has been doing quite well on the box office. Apparently, it made a massive $13.9 million on the opening night in the U.K. Until now, the movie has collected more than $109.4 million worldwide.

The story of "Thor: the Dark World" sees Asgard and Midgard being attacked by the 'Evil Elvish Race' after Jane (discovers the 'Aether', a form of energy that could condemn the nine realms into darkness. The movie will see Thor reuniting with Jane and joining forces with the beloved villain, his evil half-brother 'Loki' releasing him from the Asgardian prison to fight Malekith and his dark troupe.
