'Call of Duty Black Ops 3' Features & Updates: Modding and Mapping Tools To Come to PC in 2016

Modding and mapping capabilities are very appealing to extra creative gamers who like to experiment. This is why games like "Minecraft" and "Garry's Mod" have a growing fan base that includes those who play "Call of Duty.

According to Treyarch, one of the top requests of its "Call of Duty" community is for the shooter game to have modding and mapping capabilities. The company apparently have been listening to such request in the blog released and Treyarch announced that they are finally brining modding and mapping tools to "Call of Duty Black Ops 3."

The good news was also posted in the company's official Twitter page.

As stated in Treyarch's blog page, Director of Development Cesar Stastny announced that the modding and mapping features will be for "Call of Duty" PC platform. Further said, with those features players will be able to create Maps & Game Modes. It was also said that Treyarch plans to include Unranked Dedicated Server Files with the tools and with that the players can run servers with the created contents. In addition, an Unranked Server Browser will be added to facilitate finding and joining servers with modded content.

Towards the end of the announcement, Stastny noted that since the modding and mapping features are still in development, there may be changes to what has been announced. Lastly, it was also stated that there will be a closed alpha in March 2016 and a planned Open Beta.

There are no definite release dates for the modding and mapping tools for "Call of Duty Black Ops 3" PC yet. In the meantime, "Call of Duty Black Ops 3" from Treyarch and Activision will be out on Nov. 6 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows.
