Apple iPhone 7 Release Date & Rumors: Leaked Photos Show New Concept & Designs

On Wednesday, leaked photos of what appeared to be Apple's next generation smartphone, iPhone 7, have circulated online. The photos show a new innovative bezeless, glass and edge-to-edge design and concept, which makes the phone look bigger, a report from iDigital Times said.

"The iPhone 7 has been a hot topic since early 2015. In addition to the bezeless screen, the latest rumors about the phone include that Apple will likely get rid of the current LCD panels used on iPhone and iPad models and replace them with OLED panels supplied by Samsung," the report said.

According to Pocketlint, the Cupertino-based tech company has actually filed a patent for a slimmer handset. Industry commentators were quick to claim that the recently filed patent has something to do with Apple's rumored iPhone 7. 

"A patent for a new slimmer, D-shaped headphone plug was apparently filed by Apple, which could help with allowing for a slimmer design given a smartphone can only be as slim as its largest component," the report said.

It has also been suggested that the iPhone 7 "could come with a different chassis to the iPhone 6S, which is made from 7000 series aluminium. Apparently, next year's iPhone could see a non-metal frame with waterproofing and dustproofing features, although liquid metal has also been thrown about the speculation field. Apple hasn't always used aluminium for its iPhones, with polycarbonate and glass backs both making an appearance in previous models. To move from the 7000 series aluminium after just a year would seem like a strange move though," the report noted.

iDigital Times reports that the rumored iPhone 7 is expected to be powered with an A10 mobile chip. The handset will feature a 2K display, wireless charging, front-facing speakers, and a high-end camera, among others. If Apple will not alter its tradition of releasing new iPhones, fans can expect for the iPhone 7 to be available in mid-September next year.
