Sammy Sosa Buys Family Home in Golden Beach for $7.6 Million (VIDEO)

Veteran MLB player Sammy Sosa has plonked $7.6 million on a plush single family residence in Golden Beach, Florida, according to several news reports.

Nelson Gonzalez, the official realtor of the home said that it was one of the few homes with beach access listed for sale.

"It was one of four in Golden Beach. It's a very limited supply. That's what attracted Sammy," Gonzalez told GossipExtra.com.

And apparently he also has plans of making some renovations and additions to the place. Sammy snagged the home for a nice discount as it was listed for $8.9 million earlier.

According to the listing records at Zillow, the residence is a 7273 square feet residence sitting on a 0.57 acre lot. Comprising of seven bedrooms, eight full and one half bathroom, the home has 75 feet of water-frontage.

The listing describes it as:

Massive stainless steel double entry doors to inner courtyard with private guest bedrooms opening onto inner courtyard with koi pond. High tech throughout, spacious master suite w/terrace overlooking pool, ocean views, three walk-in closets, his/hers baths & Jacuzzi. Apparently, Sammy is a big fan of Miami. He frequents the place often and intends on making it his primary residence, reports The Business Journal.

"Sammy is a big fan of Miami, and it's wonderful that he has chosen to purchase a home here," Gonzalez told the publication in a statement.

Sammy Sosa played with four teams throughout his MLB career that spanned a good 18 years. He started off with the Texas Rangers and ended with the team too. He was the winner of the Roberto Clemente Award in 1989, the NL Hank Aaron Award in 1999 and the Home Run Derby winner in 2000.
