3 Simple Tips To Layer Throw Pillows

Sequined, Knitted, Silk, or Patterned, throw pillows or cushions give off some simple delight on our sofas and our living rooms. One wouldn't deny how these adorable addition to our sofas could give off creativity and style. But do you know that there is a finer way of putting these soft additions in our sofas? If not put properly, these throws can even spell out disaster or an uncomfortable look in our living rooms.

An article on Huffington Post will teach us how to "layer" these lovelies in our sofas. The tips were provided by professionals and are so practical and easy to follow. You might even feel like a pro with these tips.

1. Consider the "design" of your sofa- Check out the look of your sofa first, don't be afraid to choose pillows that will complement the look.

As AfroChic founder Jeanine Hays said, "It's not about about having a ton of pillows on the sofa but having what you need to create a nice design or aesthetic."

2. Create a "Playful" Look- Try to ease out a little bit on that white sofa and create a dynamic look. Black and white may be classical colors but you can play a little by choosing patterned textiles or a more bolder color like metallics like gold, bronze, or plushy neon colors depending on the palette of your living room, of course.

Bryan Mason, founder of Aphrochic said "If you have a block of the same pillows going straight across, the eye gets bored and starts to wander."

3. Proper Placing is a key- Do not let the look of your throw pillows in your couch shout that "it's drowning." Make it breathe and have some space by placing the throw pillows on "one side."

"The middle of the couch does not need to be stacked with pillows," as suggested by Gorder. "On my own couch, I'll use a Euro-size pillow and layer a few smaller ones in front. I'll typically do three in one corner to create a small story. You can layer a throw on the other side."
