Angelina Jolie and Brad Pit have been together for about eight years now. Over time, their bond has grown stronger. Although her heart already belongs to the Troy actor, Jolie is gifting her partner a 'heart shaped island'- Petra Island- located just off the coast of New York City, according to several news reports.
As Brad turns 50 Dec.18, Jolie has decided to make his Golden Jubilee special. Petra Island is not only shaped in the symbol of love but also boasts of designer architecture. The 11 acre private isle is one of the two islands on Lake Mahopac. It has a luxury cottage designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, who happens to be one of the couple's favorite architect, reports New York Daily News.
"As soon as Angelina heard the island was on the market she arranged a viewing. She was really impressed," a source told The Mirror.
"The house is perfect for romantic getaways or as a family retreat. It's very private. And Angelina knows the fact the island is in the shape of a heart will mean so much to him," the source added.
Petra Island can be reached via chopper in 15 minutes. Located just 50 miles off the coast of NYC, the island is a perfect romantic getaway. There are two homes on the island- a 5000 square feet main home and another 12,000 square feet cottage. The cottage was built using Wright's designs. Installed before his death in 1950, the home is a beautiful architectural masterpiece.

According to the Business Insider, the island had hit the listing market in Nov. 2012 for $19 million. However, the island's exact sale price remains a mystery. Various reports are suggesting different figures. The NY Daily reports that she got it for $20 million.
While Jolie has just splurged for her sweetheart, she and her kids have reportedly moved into a mansion in Sydney, Australia. According to News.com.au, the superstar is living in a 1920s mansion Villa Igiea in Vaucluse, a suburb in Sydney. The home is a 23,250 square feet residence comprising of five bedrooms. However, Brad was not spotted there.
