Cosmopolitan Editor Helen Gurley Brown's Pink Penthouse is Finally for Sale at $20M

Helen Gurley Brown was the editor of Cosmopolitan for 32 years but she passed away last 2012, leaving behind her apartment that is located in the legendary Beresford.

It has been a question of many as to who owns the legacy of Brown since she had died years ago. It was said that the co-op board wanted to list the valuable Central Park West residence but weren't able to do it since those who were involved with her will didn't agree with the idea. But since the penthouse is finally on the market, it signifies that the board won the fight.

The pink penthouse which is one of the three spaces in the building that has iconic turrets is listed with an asking price of $20 million, Curbed reported. Anyone who knows Brown will expect to see her feminine and chic side in this penthouse.

The “Sex and the Single Girl” author decorated the four-level spread with leopard decors, flowers, and a lot of pink colors. It has a formal living room featuring a funky leopard/floral carpet. Aside from that, one can also see a baby grand piano, fireplace, and built-in bookshelves. There is also an adjoining library that could be utilized as a second bedroom, 6sqft reported. As for the bedroom, expect to see too much pink in it too as fabric sprawl around the canopy bed.

The space also has a wrap-around balcony that can be accessed using a sliding glass door providing a view of the Museum of Natural History and Central park.

The pinkest part of the house is the formal dining room that connects to the kitchen. It has mirrors with intricate frames on the walls while a chandelier hangs above the floral dining table. Aside from the pink dining chairs, there are also pink sofas that line the pink walls.

The most spectacular part of the house is the top floor which is located within the turret as it features 17-foot ceilings, wall-to-wall pink carpeting, another fireplace, and an incredible 360-degree view of the beauty around the area.

The apartment was described by architectural critic Paul Goldberger as “extraordinary; it is the apex, the architectural climax of the building.”

Meanwhile, Brown is obviously happy with how her apartment looks because she was quoted telling Vanity Fair back in 2007: "I'm slightly prejudiced, but I think it's the best apartment in New York."
