Samsung recently released its first laptop built with 4K touch display - the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro, the South Korea-based technology titan's newest addition to its premiere line of ATIV laptops.
The ATIV Book 9 Pro features a 15.6-inch, 3840 x 2160 touchscreen display as well as a number of "real time HDR enhancements," which refer to the device's optimized brightness and contrast. Micah Singleton of The Verge said that the ATIV Book 9 Pro may be Samsung's best laptop in terms of display.
Samsung's most recent ATIV laptop also comes with a sixth-generation Intel Core i7 processor running at 2.6GHz. Other specs include the Windows 10 operating system, 8GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M graphics card, four speakers, and a 4K HDMI out port. The device will retail for $1,599.
ZDNet's Liam Tung praised the new ATIV Book 9 Pro, which holds up to its claim as a "powerhouse" computing platform in comparison with the 12-inch ATIV Book 9 that was unveiled earlier this year. The ATIV Book 9 Pro is also lighter than Apple's 15.4-inch MacBook Pro.
However, both The Verge and ZDNet pointed out a significant flaw in Samsung's high-end laptop. The ATIV Book 9 Pro has a short battery life of 6.5 hours, 2.5 hours less compared to what the MacBook Pro is offering.
Along with the ATIV Book 9 Pro, Samsung also released the 13.3-inch display two-in-one ATIV Book 9 Spin. The device has the same RAM and storage specifications of its bigger, Windows 10-powered brother.
That said, the Book 9 Spin is not fitted with the 4K touch display but instead gets a QHD+ display at a 3,200 x 1,800 pixel resolution and is powered by QHD+ display at a 3,200 x 1,800 pixel resolution, which is a tad slower. The Book 9 Spin is also rigged with Intel's HD Graphics processor, three USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, and a microSD card reader.
The Samsung ATIV Book 9 Spin also looks good in terms of battery life, according to its manufacturer, providing users with up to 7.3 hours of power before its power core is depleted.
