Season 4 and 5 have been confirmed for "Bates Motel" but will Norma Bates and Alex Romero be a couple through the last two seasons?
According to Cinema Blend, "Bates Motel" has been renewed for two more seasons, each with 10 episodes, and with season five being the last season. Therefore for 20 more nights, fans will see Norman Bates sink further down his psychopathic nature. And just as Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) will continue to unravel and evolve into a serial killer, fans would also love to know what is in store for Norman's overly protective mother, Norma (Vera Farmiga), and Sheriff Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell).
This may be disappointing to fans who have been anchoring on "Nomero" Norma and Romero romantic relationship. According to TV Line, it is being supposed that in Season 5 Norma may be getting a love interest. In addition, it was revealed that Gregg Edwards will be returning in the new season to reprise his role as a doctor from Pineview Mental Institution.
On the other hand, if "Bates Motel" is about the events that lead to the story in which "Psycho IV: The Beginning" revolves around, wherein Norman ends up killing his own Mother Norma and her lover out of Jealousy, there has to be another love interest besides Sherriff Romero. Although Romero himself has skeletons in his closet, the original movie did not indicate that the lover was a cop.
Needless to say, whether Norma and her new lover die at the end of Season 5 or not, executive producer Carlton Cuse has assured fans that Norma and Sheriff Romero will eventually become a couple. Back in April, Cuse told Yahoo!, "Our intention is to make people want them to get together. When that might happen, Kerry and I wouldn't want to say right now, but that's exactly what you should be feeling. You should be wanting them to get together, and I think anticipation of romance has been one of the staples that has fueled great television throughout its history."
He added, "We feel like we have an epic couple with Norma and Romero. We plan to deliver on the promise of that at some point, in some form."
