Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder sold his Tonka Bay estate for $1.062 million, which was $33,000 shy of the original asking price of $1.095 million.
Ponder, a former standout at Florida State, purchased the sprawling home on Lake Minnetonka in July 2012 for $880,000. However, a year later the American footballer and his wife Samantha relisted the house for sale.
The sprawling property is spread across an area of 5,540-square-feet. It includes five bedrooms and eight bathrooms, along with an exercise room, a hot tub, tennis courts and access to a boat dock.
The listing on Realtor.com reads:
Turn key condition. Beautifully finished and updated throughout. Fabulous floor plan. Four bedroom suites on one level. Gated community with deeded boat slip, tennis court, 24 hr security, caretaker and lakeside gazebo. Minnetonka schools.
In 2011, the quarterback was part of a controversial decision when the Vikings chose him over Andy Dalton. The team was pretty satisfied with their pick.
"The pick of Ponder as early as he was chosen was a little bit of a reach," said CBS analyst Steve Beuerlein, a former NFL quarterback according to TwinCities.com "Where Andy Dalton went was probably right about where he was projected. ... I'm not ready to call (Ponder) a bust. I would just state that it was a reach pick."
However, Ponder is currently a backup for Matt Cassel and has one year left on his contract. He is unsure about his future with the team and is not counting on staying with the Vikings for long.
