‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’ Big Issues on PC, PS4 and How To Fix Them

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" was officially released on Friday, Nov. 6, but unfortunately, players are reportedly having issues with the game on PC and PS4.

According to Polygon, gamers using Windows PC have been reporting low frame rates and inability to play the game at all. Most commonly, the game does not start properly, or if they are lucky to get to the main menu, the selections don't work. Complaints flooded the "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" official forum and Steam Community forum.

Treyarch has released a patch to address performance issues on some CPUs, but some are still reporting problems after that.

Gearnuke suggests that if you are experiencing slow frame rate, DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) should be disabled before starting the game. Some players said changing WorkerThreads = 4 to WorkerThreads = 2 in the config.ini file can also help.

If you have updated your PC from Windows 8 or 8.1 to Windows 10 and are experiencing sluggish performance or crashes, download and install Windows 10 Media Feature Pack. And then to address the spike in VRAM, change VideoMemory to something lower from default 0.95 in the config.ini file in the "players" folder and save it.

Meanwhile, "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is having server troubles on PS4 and PS3. The server status of the two are currently listed as "Not Good," meaning "Online services are degraded. Users in some regions may experience connectivity issues."

According to Forbes, some errors, such as the "Servers are not available this time" plus some letters error code, can be addressed by turning the PS4 off and on to apply the update from the launch patch.

Despite the problems, "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" are still receiving more positive feedback than negative ones, said Forbes, with a 9/10 rating from Erik Kain.
