'Person Of Interest' Season 5 Cancellation: Michael Emerson Reveals Show Might Be Picked Up By Another Network If CBS Won't Renew

Season 5 may not be the last season for "Person of Interest" if the fan petitions are successful and another network picks it up.

It was reported earlier that CBS ordered only 13 episodes for "Person of Interest" Season 5, and based on some assumptions, this could be the final season of the show. In the recent New York Comic Con panel event attended by showrunner Greg Plageman, producer Chris Fisher and also some of the stars of the show like Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson, Kevin Chapman, Amy Acker and Sarah Shahi, the group revealed that Season 5 will focus on a storyline that fans will surely never forget.

According to Venture Capital Post, during the panel event, Fisher revealed that Season 5 may be the most dramatic and intense season yet compared with the previous seasons of the show. Plageman also hinted that there will be more on Harold Finch's (played by Emerson) backstory in Season 5. He revealed that the viewers will finally know what encouraged Finch to create the Machine.

When they were asked what they felt when they knew that Season 5 will only run for 13 episodes, Chapman, who plays Lionel Fusco, revealed that they did not think it's such a big deal. He added that the writers did an amazing job in creating an incredible story in the upcoming season.

Yibada reports that Emerson, on the other hand, admitted that there is a huge possibility that the show will be cancelled after Season 5. As of writing, CBS hasn't revealed yet whether they will be renewing or cancelling the show after Season 5.

Emerson said that there is still a chance that the show will be picked up by another network after it ends its run in CBS. However, he added that the chance of the show being picked up by another network is slim, considering how expensive the production of the series is.
