"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" has just premiered its Season 8 and news are out that Kim Fields is joining the reality show.
After thinking carefully about which project to accept, "The Facts of Life" star felt this is the right time to join a reality show for some adventures. Fields told E! Online, "We've been asked to do reality TV for years, and it just wasn't the right timing, right opportunity."
She finally agreed to join "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" saying, "If you're going to look up and celebrate 40 years of doing something, at this point, for me at least, the next logical progression is what's challenging? What's new? What's different?"
Fields assured that she did her homework and due diligence so she is not going into something without proper knowledge of what could possibly happen. She also revealed that her entire family will be seen on the show - her husband Christopher Morgan and their children Sebastian, 8, and Quincy, 1. Kim has been married to Christopher since 2007.
The biggest concern for the "Living Single" actress is her family. The 46-year-old star told E! Online, "I'm very, very, very protective of my family, of my marriage, of my parenting."
When it comes to drama, Kim said, "Audiences are so smart now. They know what is puffed-up fodder that is dredged up just for the purposes of being mean-spirited. They know what's real. They certainly know me, and to be able to pull back another layer...has been exciting."
Daily Mail noted that aside from Kim, model Amiyah Scott is also joining the cast. She will be the first transgender to appear in RHOA. It was also reported that NeNe Leakes is not returning in this season, but she eventually appeared. Kandi Burruss revealed, "She ain't gone, she came back apparently, Nene is back."
"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" Season 8 premiered on Nov. 8 on Bravo. RHOA airs every Sunday.
