Chris Martin Divorce: Coldplay Frontman Gets Candid About Breakup with With Ex-Wife, Claims It Made Him Realize His Mistakes

Chris Martin's divorce with Gwyneth Paltrow reportedly brought a lot of changes in the Coldplay frontman's life. Martin is known for keeping a low-profile, but on Monday, he broke his silence and spoke candidly of his divorce.

The 38-year-old told "2DayFM's Rove and Sam" how his split affected him as a person. Martin's divorce led to his realization of what he had done wrong in his life, Daily Mail reports. He told Australia's pair's debut radio show that it was a poem by an Afghanistani poet, Rumi, "The Guest House," and a Viktor Frankl's book titled "Man's Search for Meaning" that inspired him to look at the world in a different approach.

"A few years ago I was in a low place in my life and was feeling kind of down and confused," Martin told the radio hosts. "Those two things started me off on this whole journey where I just feel so happy to be alive. That may sound a little simple but I suddenly feel very grateful to be alive. If it's coming across then that's great to hear."

Martin's divorce with Paltrow was finalized in April 2014, a month after their split announcement following 12 years of being together. Despite their "conscious uncoupling," the former couple remains amicable with each other. They have two kids, Apple and Moses.

"It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate," the couple announced on Paltrow's website back in 2014. "We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate."

Following Martin's divorce, he was linked to the "Hunger Games" star, Jennifer Lawrence. However, they have never spoken about their relationship, New York Daily News reports. This year, "The Scientist" singer was seen making out with the "Peaky Blinders" actress, Annabelle Wallis. Meanwhile, after a year, the "Iron Man" actress went out in public with producer Brad Falchuk.

The "Viva La Vida" singer claimed that he is now happy and content with the way his life is going. Their group has an album coming out in December, "A Head Full of Dreams," which reportedly reflects the singer's positive outlook in life.
