Following the confirmed exit of Jason Thompson, "General Hospital" is reportedly recasting his role as Dr. Patrick Drake and the short list includes Michael Muhney, Jeff Branson and Chris McKenna.
Undisclosed soap sources told Celeb Dirty Laundry that the three former stars of "The Young and The Restless" are being considered to replace Thompson as Dr. Drake because of their potential to pull off such iconic role, particularly with the current emotional storylines of the character.
Chris McKenna played as Detective Mark Harding in Y&R, who was killed off in August. He's been acting since he was 7. He is known for his roles in "One Life to Live," "King of the Ants" and "In & Out." He also appeared in "Criminal Minds" and "Blind Pass."
Daytime Emmy winner Jeff Branson spent three years in Y&R as Ronan Malloy but was written off the script in 2012. He appeared in "Supernatural," "NCIS" and "NCIS: Los Angeles." He is known for his role in "I Spit on Your Grave" and "All My Children."
Michael Muhney played Adam Newman in Y&R. He was fired in 2013 amidst allegations of sexual harassment which he later cleared as all lies. The Daytime Emmy Award nominee is known for his role in "Veronica Mars" and "No Man's Land: The Rise of Reeker."
All three have proven their acting talents and would make a better Dr. Patrick Drake.
Jason Thompson confirmed his exit from the daytime soap "General Hospital" via his Instagram page, saying, "I have made the difficult decision to bid farewell to a character I've loved playing for over 10 years. It was not an easy decision but I feel like it's time to hang up Dr. Patrick Drake's white coat and scrubs."
According to rumors, Thompson will be joining "The Young and The Restless" as Billy Abbott, replacing Burgess Jenkins.
