"Days of Our Lives" celebrated its golden anniversary on Monday, Nov. 8. NBC's daytime drama has been on air for 50 years and fans were treated to a special episode Monday.
The show premiered Nov. 8, 1965 focusing on the simple story of the Horton and DiMera families in the town of Salem. It was only for half an hour then the show expanded to an hour 10 years later.
NBC is proud of the achievement of the show. It airs nationally and internationally over 25 countries. With its mix of classic genre traditions and groundbreaking narratives reflecting modern life, "Days of Our Lives" remains a perennial favorite among viewers of all ages." Over the years, plot lines have gotten bigger and even more complicated. What made the 50th anniversary even more special is that former members returned in the story, until the milestone celebration. According to KWCQ, "twist and turns will keep coming" in the next episodes.
Kristian Alfonso, who played Hope Brady for almost three decades said to KWCQ, "To be a part of something and be a part of this legacy is just such a tremendous honor."
Stephen Nichols, who played "Patch," has been with the show on and off for nearly as long a period, also return for the celebration. He said in a report by WTHR, "If they hadn't called me, I would have called them. I really wanted to be here for this."
The case of "Days" vow to show fans what they really got. After all, 50 years is no mean feat.
