Gwyneth Paltrow Offered a Multi-Million Dollar Deal to Host "The View"?

Gwyneth Paltrow is being courted by "The View" to be its new co-host, with a sweet seven-figure salary. Radar Online reported that getting the Academy-Award winning actress to join the talk show's panel is a make or break deal for the show.

"If Gwyneth doesn't accept, there's every chance the show will be axed," a source for Radar Online said.

The insider added that Chelsea Clinton and Laura Bush are also being considered, but they are both only "second and third choices."

The long-running ABC talk show, now on its season 19, has been having troubles in its recent seasons. Since pioneer host Barbara Walter's exit, there has been multiple shake-ups in the all-female panel. Rosie O'Donnell has also left her post, leaving veteran Whoopi Goldberg at the helm.

For its season 18, former Disney child star Raven Seymore joined the team, but has been panned by viewers. According to Huffington Post, hundreds of thousands of people have signed a petition to remove Seymore from the show, following a negative comment she made against black people.

ABC has recently responded to the critics, deciding to keep Seymore on board.

"We love Raven. She is confident, genuine and opinionated, all qualities that make her a great addition to the panel," an ABC spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.

Currently, Seymore and Golberg are joined by Joy Behar, Candace Cameron Bure, Michelle Collins and Paula Faris as permanent hosts. The show's executives are hoping that getting Paltrow to join the team will cement the show's staying power.

However, knowing the show's downward spiral, will Paltrow accept the multi-million dollar offer?

"The big fear is that Gwyneth won't want to touch the cursed show either," the source added. "Barring a miracle or a surprise talent coming aboard, this could be the show's final season."

Gossip Cop, meanwhile, reported that a rep from "The View" said the rumor is "not truth."
