Sports broadcaster SportsNet New York which is popularly known as SNY is moving to Lower Manhattan.
According to The Real Deal, SNY just signed a 17-year lease contract for 83,000-square-foot space at Silverstein Properties' 4 World Trade Center to be its new headquarters.
It has been reported that "Four World Trade was the first skyscraper to open downtown site of the original twin towers." The Twin towers were attacked by terrorist in 2001.
SNY is known as the cable network that broadcasts New York baseball games. The network is currently renting about 39,000 square feet studio at the Time-Life Building in Midtown.
Larry Silverstein of Silverstein Properties' said in a statement that SNY moving to downtown "confirms Downtown's emerging status as the new media capital of America."
It has been reported that there's a lot of media companies that moved their headquarters to Lower Manhattan. One of the reasons is the lower rent.
Just last year, publishing house Conde Nast moved to One World Trade Center and magazine publisher Time Inc. is also expected to move to Brookfield Place before the year ends.
Jeremy Moss of Silverstein Properties along with CBRE team, Stephen Siegel, Mary Ann Tighe and Adam Foster were the ones that represented the landlords. SNY was represented by a CBRE team led by Scott Gottlieb, Ken Meyerson, Chris Corrinet and Dan Wilpon.
Bloomberg Business reported that SNY is set to occupy the skyscraper's 49th and 50th floors. The space also includes the network's broadcast studio.
Fred Wilpon, the owner of New York Mets said in a statement that "This is a historic move."
"Downtown has undergone a total transformation at the World Trade Center, and we're excited to be involved," Wilpon added.
Meanwhile, it was last August that Crains New York reported about the talks that SNY will move its headquarters to 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan.
