New York Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran is selling his Long Island home, The Real Deal reported.
The 7,500-square-foot Sands Point home, which is currently in contract after a little less than two years on the market, boasts more than 8,800 square feet, according to Trulia. Located on just under 2 acres, the Colonial-styled home, constructed in 2004, contains seven and a half bathrooms, a pool and an unfinished basement.
The announcement comes two months after the Puerto Rican native cut a $45 million deal with the Yankees, despite being offered a $48 million deal with another club, according to ESPN.
Beltran previously played for the St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals and New York Mets, whose stadium is located just 30 minutes driving distance from Beltran's two-story home.
Originally listed in February 2012 for $5.8 million, the home changed brokers last March - a move that was followed by a price reduction of more than $1 million.
The brokers have not revealed the identity of the buyer or what price is currently being talked about, telling The Real Deal that Beltran and his wife Jessica want to keep the amount private until the sale closes, which the brokers said should be within two months. They did say, however, that the purchaser is "not from this country."
According to Trulia, the average listing price for a home similar to Beltran's is $3.2 million.
Regarding the timing of the sale, the brokers told The Real Deal: "The house was listed last March, and at that point he didn't know he was going to go to the Yankees. Then we continued with the sale, and they want a change."
The athlete owns a second home in Puerto Rico.
