Peter Jackson is in contract to sell a pair of New York City penthouse apartments, Luxury Listings NYC reported, citing StreetEasy.
The New Zealand director bought the two units in 2009 apparently with the intention of combining them, but never did. In June 2013, Jackson listed the two for a total of $21.5 million.
The apartments are located on 155 Franklin Street in the neighborhood known as Tribeca. According to Curbed, Jackson spent $17.35 million on the apartments, making it one of the biggest Tribeca apartment deals, The Observer reported at the time.
The larger apartment contains six bedrooms, a family room, library and a 2,300-square-foot living room, the previous owner told The Observer. Altogether, the units occupy more than 8,000 square feet - not including the 4,000 square feet of outdoor space.
The pending sale has been listed at $19.9 million on Zillow, which details "soaring 12-foot beamed ceilings, wide-plank floors, exposed brick, fireplaces, oversized windows" and "state-of-the-art HVAC," among other things.
Jackson, whose worth is estimated at $400 million, is known not to hold back when luxury is on the line - the man owns an 18-person jet capable of traveling from the United States to New Zealand without having to stop to refuel.
Jackson lives in New Zealand on a property adorned with a castle, lake, island, railway and Frodo's Bag End, according to Stuff.co.nz.
