Gwyneth Paltrow and rockstar husband Chris Martin, from the band Coldplay, are selling their $11.4 million London pad apparently due to a number of run-ins with the neighbors, the Daily Star reported.
Paltrow, 41, and Martin, 36, reportedly bought their home in Belsize Park, North London, 10 years ago for $4 million from the actress Kate Winslet.
The purchase was followed in 2007 by a second one just next door for a little more than $5 million. After receiving permission from local authorities, the duo knocked down the two residences to construct a 33-room mansion, the Daily Star reported.
Three years later, they once again expanded through the purchase of an apartment on the other side of their original home. The news was accompanied by the revelation that the couple had applied to build a 10-foot steel fence.
The neighbors were horrified.
"As neighbours, we have had years of their building works," one angry resident told the Daily Mail. "Now the fence is just going to look ridiculous and we plan to object. They are turning a Victorian house into a fortress.
"They have taken down trees so they can park their flash cars in the driveway and are putting a huge swimming pool in the back garden. They said the trees were diseased but you can say anything when you have that amount of money. They are using their power and riches to get what they want."
According to the Daily Star, Paltrow and Martin are looking for a smaller place in the London area.
"They decided to sell up as they never spend any time there anymore. It wasn't a great atmosphere in the street either," a source told the British newspaper.
"They are looking at flats in Regents' Park to use as a bolthole when they visit London."
