'Mr. Bean' Rowan Atkinson Divorce: Comedian Left Wife of 24 Years For An Actress Half His Age

"Mr. Bean" Rowan Atkinson's divorce was settled in a matter of 65 seconds. A decree nisi was granted to his wife, Sunetra, by a district judge at London's Central Family Court for the grounds of his "unreasonable behavior" after he left her for a comedian actress half his age.

"Sunetra was deeply upset to be replaced by such a younger woman," a source said.

Atkinson's divorce was announced without the actor's or Sunetra's presence in court. It was one of the 26 cases handled by Judge Stephen Alderson that were done through a "quickie" procedure. Andrew Newbury, head of family law at Slater and Gordon, claimed that a marriage could be dissolved through the "quickie" process with complaints that include a wife talks too much or a husband never listens to his wife, Telegraph reports.

"Unreasonable behavior is the most common ground for divorce. Although described as granting a divorce, the divorce itself won't be made final until Sunetra Atkinson applies for the decree absolute," Newbury said.

It is said that Atkinson's divorce could take many months before it is finalized.

Atkinson, known as "Mr. Bean," married Sunetra, a BBC makeup artist and a daughter of an Indian engineer from West London in 1990. They have two children, Ben, 22, and Lily, 20. The two reportedly split in 2014 at the time of the construction of their £11 million home in Oxfordshire. Since then, the Blackadder star moved into a  £4 million London cottage, while his wife transferred to a luxurious mansion in the London capital, Daily Mail reports.

Meanwhile, Atkinson reportedly met Louise Ford, 32, a comedian actress, in the West End play, "Quartermaine's Terms" in 2013. Ford appeared in Sky's "Chickens" and in Channel 4's "Misfits." She and Atkinson have been dating for 18 months.
