Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe sell LA home seven years after divorce

Reese Witherspoon and ex-husband Ryan Phillippe may have divorced seven years ago, but the duo have just sold their shared Los Angeles property, Trulia Blog reported.

Purchased in 2005 for $1,173,500, the four-bedroom duplex sold for $1,440,000 on Jan. 17 after being listed for $1,395,000 in December 2013. In the end, the two took away more than $260,000 in profit on the sale, not counting the money spent on remodeling.

That's good news for Witherspoon and Phillippe, both of whom saw major real estate losses last year.

In March 2013, Phillippe was finally able to sell the home he purchased in 2008 after the couple split, but only after three years on the market and a nearly $1.5 million price cut, Radar Online reported at the time. Located in a gated community, the 7,600-square-foot residence cost Philippe $7.175 million; the Lincoln Lawyer star sold it for $6 million.

Witherspoon, meanwhile, has fared little better.

The seven-bedroom home she bought in Ojai, Calif. in 2008 for $5.8 sold for just under $5 million in December, leaving the actress with a more than $800,000 loss on her hands, Real Estalker reported.

The closure that comes with the recent sale is no doubt a welcomed one for the couple whose divorce both described as a difficult one. The two met in 1997 and were engaged the next year. Married in 1999, they had two children together - Ava Elizabeth Phillippe in 1999 and Deacon Reese Phillippe in 2003.

Witherspoon married talent agent and actor Jim Toth in 2011. Their baby, Tennessee Toth, was born in 2012.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Witherspoon's fortune is valued at $80 million and Phillippe's at $30 million.
