Disney's Aladdin Movie Sequel Impossible Due to Robin Williams' Will

Disney fans all over the world have come to love Robin William's character in Aladdin: the Genie. However, due to Robin William's last will, Disney will not be able to use his voice and recordings for the next 25 years for any upcoming Aladdin movie.

According to hollywoodlife.com, Robin Williams apparently has a lot of unused voice materials and recordings for his genie character but due to his will, they will not be used in the near future. According to his will, Robin Williams "has forbidden fresh exploitation of his name, taped performances or voice recordings for 25 years."

As a result, all of the actor's 1991 original recording will be left unused and Disney decided to postpone any plans of producing a sequel of the Aladdin movie.

According to a Disney executive, "When he was on form, the hyperactive motor mouth we love from Good Morning Vietnam, Hook, Dead Poets Society and Mrs. Doubtfire, was making 30 jokes a minute. Now, because he insisted on a final say on such material, (the jokes) will remain in the vaults."

In a report by avclub.com, a more detailed statement about his will has been reported. Aside from prohibiting the use of his recordings and voice materials, Robin Williams has "bequeathed rights to his name, signature, photograph and likeness to the Windfall Foundation, a charitable organization that Williams founded via his lawyers. Not only does the provision prevent Williams' likeness from being used in any advertisement until 2039, but it also bars anyone from developing a hologram of any of the comedian's previous stand-up routines, or 'digitally inserting him into a new film.' The measure is also meant to spare his family any tax liabilities on his posthumous earnings."

To somehow make up for the fans' loss of in having a new Aladdin movie, Disney has re- released the animated film last October 10 to celebrate its 23rd anniversary, Aladdin: Diamond Edition which includes never- before- seen footage of Robin Williams while recording for the film.
