NBA Trade Rumors: Memphis Grizzlies Could Be Interested In LA Lakers' Nick Young

The Memphis Grizzlies are looking to rebuild their roster, and they have their eyes set on Los Angeles Lakers' shooting guard, Nick Young.

According to Sports Blog, there are news that the Grizzlies management is looking for an offensive player who can be a threat from the 3-point range to add more scoring options for the team.

The rumors come at the heels of the Grizzlies' struggles at the start of the NBA 2015-2016 season. The team has only won three out of nine games and is 27 percent from beyond the arc. Memphis recently performed miserably against the Golden State Warriors, losing by 50 points, but won over the Sacramento Kings, albeit without the Kings' star center DeMarcus Cousins.

The Grizzlies have an efficient roster of players with Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph and Mike Conley at the helm. The addition of Young to the roster could reportedly change the dynamics of how Grizzlies play basketball. Known for being a very physical team, most of Grizzlies' points are scored from the inside. A shooter can help spread the floor and provide more scoring options as well as open up lanes for streakers, according to the site Yibada.

While Young played significant minutes with the Lakers, the management is looking to build a team around their new core of players D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle. This means Young will see his playing time decrease as Lakers develop their young ballers. Kobe Bryant is set to retire at the conclusion of this season, and this could open up a huge space for the Lakers to acquire new talent for their rebuilding project.

"The Lakers could move Young in the hope of opening up enough cap space to make some serious plays in free agency next year," according to a Sports Blog post. "Not only that, but they can probably get some serious value for Young."

Sending Young to the Grizzlies is considered a sensible deal. The Grizzlies need a shooter badly and that is what Young can bring to the table. The Lakers need to offload players for their rebuilding project, and Young is a valuable piece that they can trade for picks and/or young talent.
