Disney Channel orders pilot from 'Lizzie McGuire' creator Terri Minsky. The pilot is still untitled and joins some of the projects still in process at Disney such as 'Bizaardvark,' a tween music comedy that was recently ordered to series, and a Latino family series, 'Stuck in the Middle,' which stars 'Jane the Virgin' star Jenna Ortega.
Variety reported that Peyton Elizabeth Lee was cast as the lead role. Lee has had small parts in 'Shameless' and 'Scandal.'
The story of the pilot will introduce Andi Marcus, who is eager to have a 'little teenage fun and adventure', as she celebrates her 13th birthday, according to Variety. However, her teenage fun and adventure might not happen because she got a strict mother that keeps on doing everything in her power to keep Andi from being the next Bex (Andi's older sister).
Bex apparently dropped out from school and left home during her teenager years. In her late 20s, Bex still doesn't have her path as to the life that she wants to have. However, she returned home and promises to fix her life. This is where Andi's life turned upside down and left her questioning everything around her.
Minsky has created the 'Lizzie Mcguire' show, with Hilary Duff as lead actress, 'The Geena Davis Show,' ABC's 'Less Than Perfect' and MTV's family drama 'Finding Carter,' which is in its second season.
The single-camera project will be produced by Minsky, along with Michelle Manning, who is also an executive producer of the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie, 'Adventures in Babysitting.'
The pilot will be in production in 2016.
