One of the well-loved individuals that bought "Star Wars" on the big screen will finally put an end with his affiliation with the prequel. As per The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence Kasdan, who is one of the 'primary forces' who co-wrote and produced "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will finally end his duties with the Force. He still however has an upcoming Han Solo project for 2018; it does not however have a title yet.
During an interview with Bild, a German tabloid, Lawrence Kasdan was quoted saying:
"I have now made four Star Wars movies. That's more than enough."
Kasdan then stated that he did the movie for his son, Jon Kasdan. Lawrence even admitted that he had 'little interest in being involved with the movie', but his family urged him to pursue it as they were excited about the idea of him being part of the "Han Solo" film. With this being said, he agreed to co-write the screenplay.
Kasdan is responsible for co-writing the 1980's "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" in 1983. He's been affiliated with Disney's revival of the "Star Wars" franchise since 2013. The news website then added that his initial plan was to write and produce only one of the studio's spin-off properties was before teaming up with the director J.J. Abrams. He was chosen to replace Michael Arndt as the screenwriter for "Star Wars: Episode VII" back in October 2013.
Cinema Blend then gave out details in regards to Kasdan's participation in the 2018 Han Solo film stating that:
"We now feel a little more comfortable with the idea of learning the backstory behind the scruffy looking Nerf herder who would help defeat The Empire, and win the heart of a princess at the same time. Considering his pen was the one behind some of the more complex, and dare we say more human, moments of the Solo legacy, he's probably the best person qualified to bring the story of his younger years to the big screen."
