'My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2' Updates: Trailer Promises a Better, Bigger and Fatter Sequel; Release Date Confirmed!

"My Big Fat Greek Wedding" has a sequel that will be released March 2016 and if it is any indicator, it promises to be better and funnier.

In the first movie, fans have witnessed Toula Miller (Nia Vardalos) get hitched with Ian (John Corbett) in a fat Greek wedding, which was full of fun punchy lines that had fans in stitches.

In the two-minute and thirty seconds trailer released that was posted by InStyle, Nia Vardalos narrates, "A long time ago, I had a big, fat Greek wedding." It happened in 2002 and fast forward 13 long years after, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2" returns to make fans laugh once more, with majority of its original cast. On their return, the spouses will be dealing with their teenage daughter, Paris (Elena Kampouris) while facing marital problems and yet, another Greek wedding that is bigger and fatter than Toula's. Paris, on the other hand, plans to apply to far-away colleges to get away from her family.

The family was surprised when it was discovered that Toula's parents were actually not legally and officially married because the priest forgot to sign the marriage certificate. With the trailer alone, it can be gleaned that fans would be in for a major treat.

According to Deadline, the first movie was Vardalos' "one-woman stage show that was transformed into one of the biggest indie juggernauts of all time." It added that "The original stuffed $241M in its domestic dowry - despite never hitting No. 1 or making more than $15M in a single frame - and added $127M from overseas."

The movie is slated to be released March 25, 2016 under Universal Pictures and directed by Kirk Jones. Returning cast, aside from Corbett and Vardallos are Andrea Martin, Louis Mandylor, Gia Carides and others. Meanwhile, new ones include John Stamos and Alex Wollf.
