Almost a week after giving birth to her first child with husband Ben Seewald, Jessa Duggar is yet to release Baby Seewald's name and the former "19 Kids and Counting's" followers were wondering why.
It turned out that Mr. and Mrs. Seewald had a hard time naming their little boy. In a recent interview with People Magazine, Jassa said, "We want to give him a strong name, with a lot of meaning." They will not follow a theme in naming the child as well and prefer names "of heroes from the Christian faith."
The proud mother added, "It's been really cool to meet him, look at his face and match a name to who he is. It is going to be very special. A lot of thought has gone into it."
Ben agreed with his wife and said that naming their first child is not an easy decision to make because "He is going to have this name for the rest of his life."
Before giving birth (which happened at home after a 48-hour intense labor), Jessa asked fans for ideas for baby names and more than 100,000 responded, reports CBS News.
Now, we can finally say that the baby's name has finally been released and sweet baby Seewald is now Spurgeon Elliot Seewald. The name was revealed on their website as well as TLC.com.
Where did the name come from? People explained, "The newborn is named for Charles Spurgeon, a British preacher who lived from 1834-1892. During his lifetime, the Baptist thinker was considered the best-known preacher in England, frequently speaking in front of audiences of more than 10,000 people. He founded a theological college in London, which is today named Spurgeon's College.
Baby Seewald's middle name Elliot in honor of late missionaries Jim and Elisabeth Elliot, who worked in South America."
Now that the name is settled, the new parents can finally focus on their little bundle of joy. Jessa will be busy soon enough for the upcoming series with sister Jill titled, "Jill and Jessa: Counting On" to be aired on TLC commencing December.
