'Longmire' Season 5 Updates: Lou Diamond Phillips Says There Will Be Longer Episodes; Expresses Gratitude to Netflix for Series' Renewal

Longmire actor Lou Diamond Phillips has recently expressed his views now that Netflix has taken over the series, after A&E had cancelled the show.

According to his interview with Variety, Phillips, who portrays Henry Standing Bear on the show, actually prefers that they are under Netflix instead of C&E. When asked if he thinks the streaming giant is a good home for Longmire he replied, "Absolutely. We were previously constrained to 42 minutes and as a result, a lot of my work hit the floor. With an additional 20 minutes, we can let those moments breathe and round out those characters and it's a much more cinematic experience episode to episode."

The actor is not the only one who is thrilled about the shift. Just last month, fans rejoiced when the Longmire official Facebook page announced that the internet streaming media finally granted their wish to air Season 5. The revelation got more than 80,000 likes and hundreds of comments saying how grateful they are that there would be another season. Now viewers are hoping they would show at least 20 episodes of the Western drama.

Executive producers Greer Shepard and John Coveny also expressed how fortunate they feel for the series' continuation. Shepard shared how the cast and crew appreciate to work with people who give importance to the fan base and viewers rather than focusing on the target demographic. Coveny shared that they are really happy to be working with Netflix especially since it has risked so much just for the show to continue.

Nexflix apparently feels the same way about the show. According to Yibada, Netflix said that their company needs the heart and soul that Longmire brings to the hundreds of fans that contribute to support and watch them.

Season 5 rumors say that the show will be back September of next year and fans are awaiting for the much anticipated spoilers of the Western drama.
