America's largest listed home for sale for just $13.9 Million

At 62,000 square feet of combined space, the residence at 7 Montagel Way in Shoal Creek, Ala., has been crowned Largest Listed Home in America.

Fashioned after France's Versailles, the property is listed for just $13.9 million, and includes a 54,400-square-foot single family house, two large guest houses, a horse "lounge" and a guitar-shaped garden.

According to the listing at Hurwitz James Company, the main mansion, which took four years to construct, sits at the center of the 27-acre estate. Started in 1997, the castle was built by architect Bill Shepard and includes 15 bedrooms, 16 full and six half bathrooms, 12 fireplaces and an elevator. A gourmet kitchen and a 25-seat theater are also featured in this package deal.

The two-story, multi-winged mansion has marble and tiled flooring with sweeping staircases, high ceilings and several paintings adorning its ceilings.

Outside, the residence has a large swimming pool, rolling greens, two guest houses, two garages, a spa and a Jacuzzi with a fountain, and two cabana suites alongside the pool.

There is an equestrian ranch, which has a lounge complete with a kitchen, a shower, an 800-square-foot living space above it and a generator.

This residence may be the largest listed home in America, but the crown of the largest home goes to the 90,000-square-foot residence located in Windermere, Fla. Featured in the 2012 documentary "Queen of Versailles," the home belongs to David Siegel, the founder of Westgate Resorts, and his wife, and is currently still under construction.

According to Business Insider, the median home size in America is 2,135 square feet, with the White House and rapper 50 Cent's mansion among some of the largest homes in the nation.
