Scottie Pippen re-lists Florida mansion for $11.8 million

Scottie Pippen, the Chicago Bulls legend, is once again endeavoring to sell his Fort Lauderdale, Fla. waterfront mansion.

This time, the basketball celebrity has listed his vast estate for $11.8 million, according to Zillow.com.

In December 2010, the six-time NBA champion put his 13,500-square-foot estate on the market for $16 million, but found no buyers. The price of the property dropped twice - by $2.5 million in 2011 and another $1.7 million in 2013.

Pippen purchased the undeveloped property during the peak of his career in October 2000 for just $1.34 million, four years later constructing a Mediterranean-style luxury abode complete with a three-story foyer, six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a movie theater, a club and a wine room. The house also features an outdoor kitchen and an expansive playground.

He designed and updated the property by including a basketball court and a sprawling terrace facing 215 feet of personal waterfront. The premises boast an impressive pool area complete with a spa, water fountain and a giant water slide.

According to AOL Real Estate, Pippen's former Chicago Bulls teammate David Robinson also listed his 8,175-square-foot San Antonio mansion earlier this month for $3,695,000. Robinson's property also includes a waterfront basketball court.

Pippen faced a string of hard times after he retired from the Chicago Bulls in 2005, at which point he relocated to Florida with his wife Larsa. While he enmeshed himself in a number of unsavory business deals, Larsa found herself without a job when she was removed from "Real Housewives of Miami" after the first season. Consequently, the couple decided to return to Chicago and sell their huge mansion.

The 48-year-old athlete was a teammate of the legendary Michael Jordan and together they shaped many victories for the Bulls. A versatile player with compact defenses, Pippen was selected for the All-Star teams and All-Defensive First Teams seven and eight times respectively during his 17-year career.
