Sony announces that it will push through with its plan to make "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" in the midst of reports that two of its main cast members will not be coming back. Rooney Mara, on the other hand, firmly believes that she is still part of the movie.
Lisbeth Salander from the movie "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" will still be portrayed by actress Mara or at least she believes it to be true until somebody from the production team tells her straight up she is no longer playing the part.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Mara speaks up about the rumors that she and "James Bond" star Daniel Craig will not be part of the second installment of her film that brought her an Oscar nomination. "As far as I know I'm doing it until someone tells me otherwise. And then I still might do it," Mara said when asked by reporters.
The second film will be called "The Girl in the Spider's Web" which is adapted from the fourth book of the series. It is the first to be made after author Steig Larsson's death. Sony did not return any calls or refused to make any statements about the concerns with the film's two stars' return for the sequel.
Meanwhile, in a report by Cinema Blend, it was mentioned that rumors surfaced this month about actress Alicia Vikander being tagged as the replacement of Mara to play "Lisbeth Salander." This after the movie version of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" failed to impress fans of the series.
While many believe a casting change is in order after the dismal performance of the film, Sony has not made any official announcements yet. Mara also said that she is aware that Sony acquired the services of Steven Knight to make the screenplay of the sequel and beyond that she has nothing more to say.
